What does a kitchen renovation cost?

When planning a kitchen renovation one of the biggest considerations you will have is how much is it going to cost? We are often asked this question during an initial conversation or general enquiry and it’s the one question that is very difficult to answer as there are so many factors that need to be considered before being able to accurately estimate the overall cost.

We hope to shed some light on why this is such a difficult question. Below we will summarize the 3 main areas where budget can be hard to predict when we have not yet viewed your space or floorplans

1: Not knowing the size and measurements of your kitchen makes it impossible to give an accurate estimate. Larger kitchens and projects that may require more extensive renovations will always require a higher budget over smaller designs that may be keeping the same layout or going for simple cosmetic updates

2: Layout can affect your overall costing, having more tall cabinets, drawers, a higher overall joinery height or accessories such as lemens or pocket doors can all affect the estimated overall cost.

3: The material and stone colour selections can greatly influence the overall cost of your kitchen.

Estimating your kitchen renovation budget

The cost of any renovation will be entirely dependent on the size of the project, the materials used, layout & inclusions and the services required. Obviously, no one kitchen will cost the same, in the same way no one kitchen is the same.

The actual cost of your kitchen renovation will depend on your existing structure and your individual preferences. To give some further insight we have broken the costs into 3 categories. Please note these are to be used as a loose guide only and we highly recommend for an accurate estimate that you phone our office to book in a complimentary in-home measure & quotation.

Basic  Renovation – $10,000 – $25,000

A basic renovation may involve cosmetic improvements or a small kitchen that is keeping a similar floorplan to previous and does not require extensive building works. The materials generally chosen in this budget are melamine doors with a standard range of stone.

Mid Range Renovations – $25,000 – $50,000

A mid range renovation may include new cabinetry and updated appliances. This level of renovation is ideal for homeowners looking to make noticeable improvements to their kitchens functionality and appearance. It may involve moderate building works. The materials chosen are generally thermolaminate or polyurethane with deluxe stone. Smaller kitchens can fall into this category when the level of finishes & cabinetry are upgraded.

High-end Renovations – $50,000 +

High-end renovations involve premium materials, luxury appliances and significant layout changes. It may also involve moderate to extensive building works.

Their is one estimate we can safely say and that is that a kitchen renovation will always add value to your home, both in monetary terms and you and your families overall enjoyment of the space.

We hope the above helps you to understand why this question is so difficult to answer without knowing all the facts.
