Interior Design Services

At Built to Desire, interior design is part of every project we take on. Our in-house interior designer, Angela, sits across every kitchen, bathroom, and whole-home brief, which means the look of your space is planned with the same care as the build itself. Whether you are renovating, building from scratch, or refining a finished home, our interior design service helps you make confident decisions on layout, materials, finishes, and styling that hold up for the long term.

This service is available as a stand-alone engagement or alongside any custom joinery project we deliver from our Narellan workshop.

Meet Angela, Our In-House Interior Designer

Angela is a qualified interior designer with formal training and years of experience working across both residential design and construction. Her background in both worlds is unusual and useful: she understands what is possible on paper, what is buildable in practice, and how the two need to align so the finished home actually works.

Most homeowners know what they like when they see it but find the path to get there overwhelming. There are too many tile samples, too many benchtop options, too many paint chips, and too many contradicting opinions online. Angela’s job is to narrow the field. She listens to how you live, the way the space needs to function, and the colours and textures you respond to, then translates that into a clear design direction you can act on.

If you have ever stood in a tile shop with twenty samples on the floor and felt no closer to a decision than when you walked in, this is the part of the process that solves it.

Interior Design for Kitchens, Bathrooms, and Whole Homes

Most of our interior design work runs through three categories.

Kitchens. Every Built to Desire kitchen is designed by Angela in collaboration with you, including layout, cabinetry detailing, door profiles, benchtop selection, splashback, lighting, and integration with the surrounding rooms.

Bathrooms. Tile selection, vanity layout, tapware, lighting, and the small detailing decisions that separate a good bathroom from a great one.

Whole-home interiors. Open-plan living areas, hallways, bedrooms, study nooks, and laundries. We work on full-home schemes where the brief is to make every room feel cohesive rather than designed in isolation.

Where most of our clients land is somewhere in between: they start with a kitchen or bathroom, then bring Angela in to extend the scheme through the rest of the home so nothing feels disconnected.

Style Direction We Specialise In

Angela works across a range of styles, but a few come up consistently for our Macarthur and Southern Highlands clients. The styles below are the most-requested directions, and most projects mix elements rather than locking into one.

  • Hamptons style kitchen and full-home Hamptons schemes, with shaker detailing, soft tones, and feature cabinetry.
  • Modern Hamptons for clients who like the warmth of Hamptons but want a cleaner, less ornate finish.
  • Coastal Hamptons, lighter and more relaxed, suited to homes that lean into beach and country tones.
  • Modern minimalist and Japandi-inspired schemes for newer builds.
  • Country and farmhouse-inspired interiors for homes in the Highlands.

Whatever direction your home leans, the goal is the same: a space that feels considered, warm, and clearly yours rather than copied from a magazine.

How a Design Consultation Works

The first step is a free consultation, either at your home or at our Narellan showroom. The showroom holds real benchtop slabs, finished cabinetry, door samples, and tile boards, which makes a meaningful difference compared with browsing online.

At the consultation we walk through your home (or your plans, if you are building), talk about how you live and what you want changed, and start narrowing the design direction. From there Angela puts together a layout, recommends materials, and presents the scheme as a clear written brief alongside a quote.

There is no obligation at the consultation stage. Some clients book us straight away, others take time to think it through, and some want a second consultation before committing.

What’s Included in Our Interior Design Service

Our interior design service can be scoped to fit the project. The most common engagements are:

  • Full-service interior design: end-to-end support for new builds, renovations, and large-scale residential projects, covering layout, finishes, fittings, and selections.
  • Selections and styling: targeted help with finishes, fittings, colours, and furnishings to bring a cohesive feel to a project already in motion.
  • Joinery-integrated design: design that runs in parallel with the cabinetry build, so the joinery and the surrounding interior are resolved together rather than separately.

Why Work with an Interior Designer

Working with a designer brings clarity, confidence, and a single point of decision-making to a project that would otherwise involve a dozen different contractors and suppliers, each with their own opinion.

What that looks like for our clients:

  • A warm, collaborative process tailored to how you actually live
  • A balance of beauty and everyday function, not one at the cost of the other
  • A design approach that holds up over years, not just on Instagram next month
  • Support through every decision, big and small, from layout to door handles
  • Joinery and interiors that align without seams, because they are designed and built under one roof

You finish with a home that feels resolved, considered, and entirely yours.
