Halloween Styling Ideas
Get the pumpkins ready and your spookiest outfit! It is almost time for Halloween! It’s a great time to get creative on a creepy theme for your home facade but what about the kitchen! It is where all the fun comes to life from the pumpkins to the Halloween cookies to those ever so full lolly jars.
Let us walk you through some of our tips and tricks from our team at Built to Desire Kitchens.
Colour Palette
For that instant Halloween feel, stick to traditional colours, black, orange, purple and green. Choosing one or two colours and pair it with a neutral colour will make your styling items and decorations stand out. Gone are the days of tacky plastic spiders and fake spider webs. You can source some beautiful themed ceramic bowl, cups mugs and vases that will be a timeless addition that you can keep using every year.
Go pumpkin crazy!
They are inexpensive and cheerful and instantly add a colour to your kitchen space – the pumpkin is the king of spicing up your kitchen décor this Halloween!
Why not add multiple pumpkins! Think about stacking them, scattering a variation of small to big in clumps or placing them simply on your kitchen shelves or island. Why not even spray a pumpkin or two in different colours to add a spooky touch like black or to add flair, why not gold? They look fantastic when you tie it in with your kitchen accessories such as gold handles or pendant lighting.
Don’t forget the ever so important carved out pumpkin! This is a great way to get the kids involved and make the masterpiece of your kitchen.
Why not make two so you can pop one out the front on the night of Halloween!
Bring the outside in
Get the kids to help forage some leaves and pinecones to make use of mother nature to make a mini display on your kitchen table or island. Add a touch of colour by spraying the leaves in Autumn colours to bring that authentic Halloween style. Make sure you have space for it and that it doesn’t get in the way of preparing food!
Keeping it within the natural theme, why not even add some tea lights, dried lemon or oranges. Even add spices with cinnamon sticks to your tables’ centrepieces. Paired with neutral tones with your napkins and tableware.
Less is more
Choose key spots in your kitchen to decorate so it creates focal points but also keeps your kitchen free of over cluttering. That way you’ll be able to enjoy your decorating rather than it becoming something you need to continually move around to use the space!
The main tip is to have fun with it. It’s a once a year opportunity to have a little fun and over indulge in those sweets!
